General Visitor : Document list

This section explains what documents you should have when coming to the United Kingdom as a general visitor.

There is no set list of documents which should be provided as this varies depending on the category that you are applying for. The guidance notes list the documents most commonly asked for.

Here we providing list of documents which mandatory for Visa Application.
  • A signed, dated Visa Application Form (VAF)
  • Provide the required Photographs -Please provide your recent photograph (not more than six months old). 1. The photographs should be in colour. 2. Taken against a light background (white or off-white)so that features are Cleara and good quality 3. Printed on normal photographic paper. 4. Unmounted - 45 mm x 35 mm in size; full face (without sunglasses and normally without a hat or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
  • Provide a Passport & Photocopy of all the pages with attestation by Guedgeted officer(or other travel documents where specified by UKVisas)- for all applicants travelling to the UK- which correspond to data in the VAF (name, passport number, expiry date)- which have not expired- which have at least one page free in the visa pages for the insertion of a vignette.
  • Pay the published visa application fee and
  • Covering Letter
  • Consent to have their Biometrics data recorded.

Select appropriate documents from below list as your supporting documents

  • If you are employed a letter from your employer granting leave of absence from your job for a specified period. The letter should also say how long you have been employed by that employer, in what job(s) and should indicate when you are expected back at work.- Leave sanction letter, Company ID card.
  • If you are self-employed, evidence of your business activities and financial standing - Income Tax Paper, Bank statements, Planned appointment letter.
  • Evidence of any property you own in your home country-Property Ownership Documents
  • If you are a student, a letter from your school or college stating which course you are on, its start and finish dates and the dates of the holiday period during which you intend to visit the United Kingdom- School Permission letter
  • It will also help if you can show that you have family or social ties and responsibilities to return to - Marriage Certificate, Land Ownership/ property ownership
  • Evidence of any firm travel plans you have made- Travel tickets, Accommadation booking for certain periods
  • Bank statements going back over a period of several months and
  • Evidence of savings available to you.- 3-6 months bank statements, Travellers Cheque.

If you are getting financial support and accommodation from your sponsor and/or pay for your travel to the United Kingdom,

You will need the following as evidence that your sponsor is able to do so

  • A letter of sponsorship explaining relationship between you and your sponosor, the purpose of the visit and where you will stay and your travel expenses will carried by them-Sponsors Invitation/Sponsorship letter.
  • Evidence of their immigration status in the United Kingdom - Sponsors Visa stamped page copy
  • Photo Identification proof of sponsor -Copy of sponsors Passport Bio-Data Page
  • Evidence of their financial status and fund available to sponsor your travel expenses -Copies of sponsors bank statements and payslips for the last 6 months or A copy of sponsors savings account book.
  • Accommodation proof of sponsor - Full Tenency Agreement or Property Ownership Document, Utility bills/Council Tax bill.
  • National Insurance Number
  • Tax paper
